The gardens feature a sweeping mix of roses, grasses, annuals, perennials, woods, woodland plantings and decorative garden planters. Perennials for the cottage gardens were selected carefully by the owners to create a mix of exuberant delightful colors and blooming throughout three seasons. The romantic, inviting semi-formal garden on the west side of the house is flanked by a white picket fence. A beautiful cedar arbor anchors the entrance to this garden, which is rampant with red, white and pink roses, peonies, clematis, native lilies, dogwoods and a variety of flowering vines that attract the humming birds in summer time. Stylish planters spilling with blooms adorn the gardens and the stone steps to the Family/Day Room.
A short meandering path leads to the lower stone patio and then to the lake. The natural habitat attracts an abundance of unusual variety of birds in each season – swans, herons, egrets, Canadian geese, mallards and more. The owners built many wonderful sitting areas: large patio by the semi-formal garden on the west side of the house, stone walls, wide stone steps along the length of the family room, the octagonal gazebo on the east side and the lower patio overlooking the lake. Large flat stone walking paths were created to connect the beautiful gardens and the sitting areas. The large brick and stone patio with a custom-designed enclosed barbecue area and sitting stone walls was designed for family fun and entertainment.
